Alethea McCollin

Alethea McCollin is a playwright/producer/director, and former Virginia State University instructor. She has authored three screenplays including The Vegetarian and 50 Years Pregnant; fifteen plays – among them are Renaming Shaim, The Stilettos Monologues, Pastor Willie’s New Church, Christmas Behind the Headlines, and Referendum; and one children’s book –The Cloud Catcher. 

She has produced her works locally; and presented her work at Broadway Bound Theatre Festival at Theatre Row, NYC; National Black Theatre Festival, the DC Black Theatre and Arts Festival, and the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival.

Alethea is the founder of Orange Stilettos Productions, llc, and serves on the board of directors of James Rivers Writers, and on the development committee of the Perkinson Center for the Arts and Education. Alethea is a member of Dramatists Guild, Virginia Screenwriters’ Forum, and the Richmond Playwrights’ Forum. She holds an MA in English, and a BS in Economics and Law.
