Tom Sanchez Prunier

Tom Sanchez Prunier is a filmmaker who loves great stories. After years of writing screenplays in the vacuum of Corporate America, he made the leap into film and television. His crew credits include the feature film Wonder Woman 1984, the Showtime series Homeland, PBS’s Mercy Street, the Netflix feature Juanita, and Focus Features’ Harriet. In addition, Tom has worked on commercials, corporate and government projects, music videos and documentaries, as well as several independent features and television series.

Tom has seen six of his screenplays produced. His first, Window Shopping, won Best Comedy at the PBS Reel 13 Shorts Competition. Its sequel, Window Shopping II: Attack of the New Releases, placed in second at the ‘What’s in Your City’ Film Festival in Italy. His directorial debut, Trolls & Antechambers, was an official selection of the Phoenix ComicCon, GeekFest Toronto, the Great Lakes International Film Festival, and screened at the James River Filmmakers Forum. His other shorts, Refrigerator Magnet Poetry Slamand Defense Grid, are fondly remembered as fun lessons in filmmaking.

Tom just completed his second directorial effort, the sci-fi short Keystroke, the screenplay for which won the grand prize at the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival and was a finalist in the Artists Alliance Short Screenplay Competition.

His short screenplay Silent But Deadly, about a ninja who finds several strangers waiting for him in his apartment, won the Dragon Born Award at the 2018 GenreBlast Film Festival, and will be produced by IRN Films in Toronto to premiere at GenreBlast 2019.

Tom embraces the screenwriting axiom of “the same, but different” by turning convention on its head while telling a coherent story based (somewhat) in reality. He lives in Central Virginia with his very supportive family.
