Tom Sanchez Prunier is a filmmaker who works in the film industry. He is a member of the union IATSE Local 487, and splits his time between the Locations and Set Decoration departments. His crew credits include the feature film Wonder Woman 1984, the Showtime series Homeland, PBS’s Mercy Street, AMC’s The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the Netflix feature Juanita, and the AppleTV+ series Swagger. Tom was also the executive producer on the Haven Media / Fraga Studios feature Written in Blood, a film written, cast, shot, and funded in Virginia
Tom has seen seven of his short screenplays make it to the big screen. His first, Window Shopping, won Best Comedy at the PBS Reel 13 Shorts Competition. Its sequel, Window Shopping II: Attack of the New Releases, placed in second at the ‘What’s in Your City’ Film Festival in Italy. His directorial debut, Trolls & Antechambers, was an official selection of the Phoenix ComicCon, GeekFest Toronto, the Great Lakes International Film Festival, and screened at the James River Filmmakers Forum.
Tom’s short Keystroke, the screenplay for which won the grand prize at the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival and was a finalist in the Artists Alliance Short Screenplay Competition, appeared in several film festivals across North America. His short script Silent But Deadly, won the “Dragon Born” Award at the GenreBlast Film Festival, and was produced by IRN Films in Toronto. His earlier shorts, including Refrigerator Magnet Poetry Slam and Defense Grid, are fondly remembered as fun learning experiences.
Tom embraces the screenwriting axiom of “the same, but different” by turning convention on its head while telling a coherent story based (somewhat) in reality. He lives in Central Virginia with his very supportive family. He also sharpens his filmmaking skills on his YouTube channel, Spork Syndicate, where he and his son customize 1/64th-scale diecast cars (ex. Hot Wheels, Matchbox).
